Setting up libopc for Linux / Debian; Ubuntu

  1. Download the libopc_0.0.2_i386.deb and libopc-dev_0.0.2_i386.deb packages.
  2. Make sure all dependencies are resolved: sudo apt-get install libxml2-dev zlib1g-dev
  3. Install the libopc-0.0.2.deb package with: sudo dpkg -i libopc_0.0.2_i386.deb libopc-dev_0.0.2_i386.deb
  4. Compile programs with: gcc sample.c -o sample `pkg-config --cflags --libs libopc libxml-2.0 zlib`
  5. To remove the package type: sudo dpkg -r libopc libopc-dev

Do you have a recommended place to get libxml2-dev and zlib1g-dev from that will have dependencies working with the current libopc package?

You type the sudo command at line 3 in the dir you have the downloaded .deb files in. This will unzip them. It's looking for dependencies listed in step 2. If you're want to figure out if you have them already, type which sudo and it'll tell you. Otherwise, run the sudo command and see if it tells you you're missing anything. I was missing libxml2-dev, so I'm downloading online. It looks like it's dependent on specific Ubuntu version 1.13.

Hi, please does anyone can help me install the libopc packages on linux opensuse (this operating system does not use the *. deb file)
